{"id":505,"date":"2006-02-16T08:33:49","date_gmt":"2006-02-16T12:33:49","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-10-03T11:15:49","modified_gmt":"2007-10-03T15:15:49","slug":"casinos_cigarette_promotion_rejected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/2006\/02\/16\/casinos_cigarette_promotion_rejected\/","title":{"rendered":"Casinos&#8217; cigarette promotion rejected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/c\/?98\">Globe and Mail<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a decision heralded as an important victory by anti-smoking advocates, the Federal Court of Appeal has ruled that casino patrons can not accumulate loyalty-program points and redeem them for cigarettes.<\/p>\n<p>Three judges ruled unanimously that two casinos in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/c\/?100\">Niagara Falls, Ont.<\/a> run by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/c\/?99\">Falls Management Co.<\/a> shouldn&#8217;t allow members of their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/blog\/index.php\/2006\/01\/20\/casino_players_advantage_club_card\">Players Advantage Club<\/a> reward program to use their points to buy tobacco products.<\/p>\n<p>Club members at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/c\/?60\">Casino Niagara<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessniagara.com\/c\/?59\">Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort<\/a> earn points when they play slot machines, video poker games, or table games.
