{"id":3001,"date":"2008-05-21T10:33:01","date_gmt":"2008-05-21T14:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/?p=3001"},"modified":"2008-05-21T10:33:01","modified_gmt":"2008-05-21T14:33:01","slug":"tourism-figures-raise-hope-for-rebound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/21\/tourism-figures-raise-hope-for-rebound\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourism figures raise hope for rebound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/c\/?1440\">Niagara Falls Review<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If the traffic jam that clogged Niagara Falls Tourism&#8217;s website in recent weeks is any indication, the 2008 season might not be as bad as originally feared.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had 7,000 unique visits in a day,&#8221; executive director Anna Pierce said Tuesday. &#8220;We&#8217;ve never had that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pierce made the observation the day after the tourist season was ushered in with wind, lashing rain and temperatures more befitting the March Break than the Victoria Day weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the foul weather that put a wet blanket on dreams of picnics and fireworks, Pierce said some Niagara Falls hotels fared better than expected.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It wasn&#8217;t the best (Victoria Day weekend) we&#8217;ve had.
