The former was the oldest of the duo and had been built in 1885. The 21.67-metre-long steamer carried hundreds of thousands of travelers to the base of the Niagara cataract for a close-up look view of the thundering waters. The two ships were ashore at winter quarters when the blaze destroyed their wooden superstructures.
