City council agrees and endorsed the idea because it would give tourism a shot in the arm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has been more than 100 years since a walk has been done near the falls,&#8221; Cochrane said Tuesday, the day after councillors backed his dream of walking a wire from Goat Island on the American side of the Niagara River to the top of the Skylon Tower on the Canadian side.<\/p>\n<p>Councillors voted Monday to send a letter to the Niagara Parks Commission, requesting commissioners give Cochrane their blessing to attempt the feat.<\/p>\n<p>The commission needs to reconsider its opposition to his kind of show, Cochrane said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Niagara Falls Review: Jay Cochrane says he wants to wirewalk into the history books, becoming the first person in 110 years to walk a tightrope over the Niagara River.
