Donald Ziraldo envisions a day when North America becomes a borderless continent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Get rid of the border, that’s the simplest solution to me,” Ziraldo said during a three-hour roundtable discussion on the challenges facing Niagara’s tourism industry at Niagara College Wednesday. “We should follow the European Union model. Any of you worried about losing your Canadian identity – get over it. Ask an Italian or German if they lost their identity after the EU.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ziraldo was one of 14 speakers to address a group of tourism and hospitality students during the 311\/42-hour session, aimed at finding solutions to the problems which have plagued the industry since the beginning of the new millennium.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While the session, moderated by Niagara College president Dan Patterson, was intended to give students an insiders’ view of the industry they plan to enter, the session also gave panelists a chance to be brutally honest about the problems facing tourism in Niagara and much of Canada in 2007.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
