Striking workers at Niagara Falls’ Rainforest Café secure first contract

From Niagara This Week:

After 80 days on strike, the workers at Rainforest Café on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls and the restaurant’s owners have been ordered to enter into a first contract.

The order came from Ontario Labour Relations Board vice-chair Patrick Kelly, who issued the decision late in the afternoon Wednesday stating he knew it was a difficult process.

The workers, represented by Workers United Local 2347, walked off the job April 7 after they had been unable to reach a collective agreement with management a year after workers voted to unionize.
