Diodati takes note of Airbnb booth at conference

From the Niagara Falls Review:

One exhibitor booth in particular at last week’s Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference caught the attention of Mayor Jim Diodati.

“One of the booths this year that I’ve never seen before was an Airbnb booth. We (Diodati and the city’s chief administrative officer Ken Todd) spent a lot of time there. We grabbed a bunch of resources, and spoke with their national reps on their approach. That was eye-opening. It was so interesting. They want to participate, following all rules. They don’t want to have groups going off and causing trouble and ruckus in communities.”

It was timely, said Diodati, as the city is trying to come up with a better way to control vacation rental properties, which in some cases have caused issues in certain neighbourhoods.
