New focus at Niagara Glen Nature Centre

From the Niagara Falls Review:

The iconic stone building at the Niagara Glen along the Niagara Parkway has been used as a restaurant, caretaker’s residence, temporary residence for School of Horticulture students and spent many years a gift shop.

The Niagara Glen Nature Centre recently underwent a series of renovations to add new programming to highlight Niagara Parks’ stewardship role.

“The Niagara Glen is an undeniable treasure of natural beauty,” Janice Thomson, chairwoman of the Niagara Parks Commission, said Friday during the attraction’s grand re-opening.

“(The glen) is a defining feature of the Niagara River experience and a site that has been protected and preserved by the Niagara Parks Commission since 1894.”

With support from the Ontario150 funding program, the building has been converted into an interpretation facility that highlights the geological, environmental and historical significance of the area.
