‘They’re more sharp’: Tourists take in new lights on falls

From the Niagara Falls Review:

For longtime Niagara Falls visitor Chris Endres, it was like looking at the falls with a new glasses.

They were brighter. Clearer. Better.

Like several other tourists Saturday night, he had come to check out the falls in a better light. Four million dollars worth of better lights, actually.

On Thursday, the bi-national Niagara Falls Illumination Board unveiled the first new lighting system for the falls in 20 years. Using 100 panels of LED lights, the new system provides twice the power of the old Xenon spotlights while using about 60 percent less energy.

The new system was unveiled during a lighting ceremony Thursday, and two nights later tourists were bedazzled by the change.
