Emergency crews used a rope line to guide hikers to safety after they got stranded in a gorge at Niagara Falls, Ont.

Police say several hikers, including three adults, two children and a dog, got into some difficulty Saturday afternoon while walking up the Niagara Gorge off a marked trail below Thompson’s Point.

Police say the hikers effectively became trapped and couldn’t move up or down the gorge.
