Last week it was announced that the Maid of the Mist name will continue in Niagara Falls. The Niagara Parks Commission had chosen a different operator to run boat tours on the Canadian side, and people wondered what would happen to the Maid of the Mist on the US side. Well, now we know. They will develop part of the Schoellkopf Power Station site. They are also going to pay about $70 million more than they were originally going to pay over the life of the contract. The US side should be thankful to the Canadian side, and Bob Gale in particular, for getting such a great deal in open tender.
