Take a fall with Canada’s wonders

There’s something mesmerising about the thunder of the water as it slips off the edge of the cliffs in an incessant display of nature’s power.

Niagara Falls is far from the world’s highest waterfall, but ranks among the most famous, thanks to its sheer accessibility. It has been a must-see since the Victorian era and, when in 1901 a US vice-president’s daughter honeymooned here, Niagara also became a honeymoon destination.

There are surely many more romantic places to take a honeymoon than Niagara, where you’re surrounded by hordes of tour groups. Indeed, Oscar Wilde once called Niagara “a bride’s second great disappointment”.

But in every other way, these waterfalls are very impressive, with most visitors commending them as one of the highlights of a visit to eastern Canada.
