Cooking up bugs on Clifton Hill

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Daniella Martin is an entomophagy advocate.

To the uninitiated, that means she eats bugs.

“Insects are fabulous food,” she said with confidence.

(Her personal favourites are wax worms, bees, wasps and fried bamboo worms).

The U.S. host of the web-based show Girl Meets Bug travels the globe to share her passion with others.

According to Martin, insects are the most environmentally-friendly source of protein on the planet.

On Friday, she set up a makeshift kitchen outside Guinness World Records Museum on Clifton Hill and invited passers-by to sample a few fried delicacies which included crickets, scorpions and tarantulas.

The majority of brave souls who accepted her offer said the bugs “taste like chicken.”
