An 88-year-old domed theater on Main Street that has survived disco, heavy metal and “Girls Gone Wild” has a new life after a two-year, $1.8 million renovation that restored many of its original features.
The building at 1711 Main St. will reopen this weekend as the Rapids Theatre, after undergoing extensive work to undo decades of decay that set in when it operated as a nightclub and late-night concert venue.
