Proposed Hotel/Residential Condo development

As was first mentioned by Drafty about three weeks ago and posted here, there is an application regarding a proposed Official Plan policy to permit a future mixed use residential condominium/hotel development on the lands  of the former Loretto Educational Centre building. The proposal is consisting of 3 buildings with heights between 32 and 57 storeys and the Loretto to be restored and incorporated into the development. Below is a rough rendering image found on the Niagara Falls City Website.

  1. According to the application, the developers are basically just asking for the Official Plan be extended to this property to allow them to proceed with proposals and studies knowing that the heights and densities are within the allowable scope. They aren’t even sure yet what proportion would be hotel and condo, and these drawings are just a rough idea of what could end up there. It is even possible that it could be all hotels, with close to 1700 rooms. The fact that they are incorporating the Loretto building is great news, and the location, right across from the Convention Centre means it could happen fairly quickly.

  2. Does anyone know who would be in charge of developing the property or the property management firm involved. This could say a lot about if this goes through at all

  3. As mentioned several times in the article, it is Romzap, owners of Sheraton on the Falls and the Loretto property, proposing the development of their property.
