Not exactly sure what they are doing at the Cascade Inn, but they do have a few of the balconies taken down with some rooms boarded up. The owners of this hotel I believe are the same owners as the Skylon Tower and the claim to fame that they hold near and dear, is that they are the closest Inn to the Falls… which is precisely why this old place needs an overhaul.
That is prime property to build a new mega hotel right there!
Except we’re talking about the Skylon here, so not likely.
If they were just doing regular renovations, it seems unlikely that they would board it up like that. Weird.
Unless they are putting in Energy Efficient Windows.
To me the place looks like it belongs along Kingston Road in Scarborough. It is such an eyesore.

Just heard thru ‘reliable sources’ that the Cascade will become a Quality Inn.
Also heard that the old Hy & Zels on Victoria will become a Shoppers Drug Mart.
Makes sense since the CLifton Hill one closed. I am surprise that they didn’t make the Hy and Zels into a Pharmacy 2. Didn’t it turn into a Pharmacy 1?
I’ve heard both rumors as well.
Hopefully they bulldoze and/or heavily remodel that Hy & Zels building rather than just stick a Shoppers in the existing facility. That place is a little past its prime.
I stayed at the Cascade a few times before and recently stayed there since it’s Quality Inn. The rooms are really nice inside, hardwood floors, great bathrooms and interiors.
