From the Niagara Falls Review:
The Outback Steakhouse Restaurant on Fallsview Blvd., in Niagara Falls, has closed along with eight other locations across Ontario.
The sign in front of the local restaurant was already down on Wednesday and the person who answered the phone directed all inquiries to another telephone number where an answering machine told callers to send an e-mail to an address and that someone would respond within 24 hours.
A letter posted to the front door informed customers that Outback Steakhouse Canada has closed its restaurants in Ontario, effective March 23.
“The decision to exit Ontario was a difficult one,” states the letter, “and it was made only after considerable reflection and analysis. We have enjoyed the privilege of a loyal customer base in Ontario since we first opened in 1996. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to our guests for their patronage throughout the years.”

My husband and I always used to eat at the Outback when we were at the Falls as we enjoy them also back here in Pittsburgh. However, about 3 years ago the Fallsview Outback became way too expensive for our pocket plus they seem to have eliminated the more moderately priced entrees altogether from the menu.
We decided not to eat at the Fallsview Outback again and haven’t. I guess word got around!!!
Outback’s are awful, the same money you could go to a real steakhouse and have a nice dinner.
we’ve been to the outback here in ancaster twice…first time was very good..second time..not so much..because we’re big meat eaters..we expect a bit more than the size of a donut for $35…we’re trying to find time to check out copa cabana..all you can eat meat so we heard….any comments on that?
thanks
It is definitely an experience, you won’t leave hungry. On the other hand, it still doesn’t replace a good steak dinner at a good restaurant, someplace like Canyon Creek for instance.
(Pretty good plug, eh Dan
)
Thanks for the segue Drafty lol.

The above link is a press release from Outback Steakhouse. Anyone with a gift card to an Outback Steakhouse will be able to use them at any SIR Corp restaurants in Ontario which include Jack Astor’s, Alice Fazooli’s and of course Canyon Creek Chophouse.
On top of that in such difficult times we are going to help fellow Steakhouse employees and try to find jobs for them with our company as best we can. We held a “job fair” this past Wednesday and I hope we can find positions for some people.
I’ve never eaten at an Outback Steakhouse, but it seems there were some mixed reviews. I gotta get out and eat more.
They vaired by location. I’ve eaten at four. (Whitby,NF, Toronto, and Richomnd Hill.)
One location they sat us at a dirty table and the hostest made it seem like it was no big deal. Some had good service while the food was O.K. Some had excellent food but O.K. Service.
Wasn’t Outback at one time owed by Cara. (Owners of Swiss Chalet)?
Apparently, like Mark Twain, the rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated.
There was an ad in the Review this morning for a job fair for the Outback, with the same logo and with contact information for the Embassy Suites. Nothing on the Outback website, so another strange one.
I didn’t have my camera when I was out with my family this weekend but Drafty is right, there is an Outback Steakhouse banner back up on the front and back of the building. I’ll try to get out and get a picture tonight.
It could be the American chain that is going to re-open it. I believe that the Candian had a agrement to use thier logos. It is very interesting.
