From the Niagara Falls Review:
Hooters Niagara is closed after the restaurant failed to pay its rent, says the owner of the Stanley Avenue location Hooters occupied for approximately five years.
“Their lease has been terminated. It’s posted on the door that rent hasn’t been paid,” said Andrew Cserpes, the landlord for the restaurant.
His family owns the property at the corner of Stanley Avenue and Murray Street, as well as other properties in the area.
The restaurant is famous for its chicken wings as well as for hiring attractive waitresses who wear uniforms consisting of low-cut white tank tops and short orange shorts.
The restaurant has been closed for a little more than a month. Super Bowl Sunday, which was Feb. 1, was the last day the restaurant was open, Cserpes said.

It seems a few places have closed up recently (and not just near the Clifton Hill area). Tony Roma’s closed for a few weeks after NYE but is now open, Cotton Ginny in the Casino was closed for a couple of weeks but is now open, FANS in the casino, and now Hooters. Hooters seemed like the perfect fit for Niagara Falls, I wonder why it didn’t succeed.
Dan, I think it’s because Hooter’s, who cater to local patrons at every other location, located here in the middle of the tourist area, with very little parking and relied on tourist trade. Locals couldn’t bother trying to get to it during the summer and that just carried through to the off seasons. I think all the chain restaurants around the Falls have the same problem.
we just fell upon an old movie with dan akroyd called love at first sight..filmed in the falls in 1977..to say HUGE changes would be an understatement for sure..some scenes on the hill are so old..it’s really hard to place where things are now..the old guiness museum is a real hoot..and the travelodge still has the same red doors…anyhow..good movie for us falls buffs..wait till you see the shot of the minolta tower..in plain view..notta hotel around it in sight!…lol
Where did you get the movie? I’d love to see it and take some screenshots…
didn’t get it yet graham..my son is working on it tho…it was on the drive in channel on tv…yu’ll love it graham..there are way too many things to even begin to go into detail..i’ll let you know as soon as he finds it..
Yae I remember that movie! I think the ending takes place at the Flying Saucer Restaurant, if memory serves? It has been about 25 or more years since I last saw it.
yup..flying saucer is in it..that looked hilarious!…actually..the ending was driving along the parkway..the amount of trees is unbelieveable…anyhow graham..haven’t found it anywhere online yet..but the drive in channel is carrying it at the moment..it’s on at 8am this morning..yur set if you have TIVO…lol…any other times..i can let you know..
Unfortunately I don’t have cable so I don’t get that channel. If anyone wants to record it and drop it off or mail it to me, I’d appreciate it.
I am heading to Windsor for my wife’s grandfathers funeral tonight, but if it is still on when I get home I will record it for you Graham.
