This is the second in my series of simple observations after my trip to the Kissimmee/Orlando area of Florida. It’s not really a Disney vs Niagara Falls comparison, but hey, that’s the name of the series.
More than once I’ve made the comment to people about the types of attractions we have in Niagara Falls. What does a haunted house, a carnival fun house, or an arcade have to do with such a natural wonder? The answer is obvious… nothing! However, you can only look at all that water for so long, and since people are there, you might as well have something to do.
The Orlando area of Florida is very similar. Of course the big attractions are the various Disney and SeaWorld parks. But what do you do if you would like to do something smaller/simpler/cheaper? There are all sorts of attractions. International Drive is one of the main roads, and they have a Business Improvement Association that promotes hundreds of hotels, stores, and attractions. Like Niagara Falls, there is a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, mini-putt, dinner theatre, helicopter rides, and go-carts.
I guess, generally speaking, it’s the “if you build it, they will come” philosophy. Or maybe, like I said, it’s the “they’re already here, so we might as well capitalize on it” philosophy. Whatever it is, it works. We certainly enjoyed the shopping (got some great deals at some outlets) and loved the mini-putting. We even fed some gators at the place we went mini-putting. Niagara Falls doesn’t have that 
Overall, I thought in this area, Niagara Falls certainly held its own, in quantity of attractions, quality of attractions, and price of admission. Niagara Falls definitely has some excellent things to do and see.
