While staying at the Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview, we had the pleasure of eating at The Watermark Restaurant twice. Our first meal was for dinner. As mentioned yesterday, we had a friend look after the kids so that my wife and I could have a relaxing dinner together. We sat in the southeast corner with windows on two sides of us. It was evening, so the sun was set, and the lights were on the Falls. It was beautiful!

One of the things that makes a positive restaurant experience is the service, and it was exceptional. Peter, our server, was very respectful of our space, but was there whenever we needed him.

I always find it tough making a meal decision at a new restaurant. I have no idea what’s good, and with my limited dining experience, I often don’t even know what the different terms mean. As I said, Peter was very helpful, and my wife and I both ended up having the Grilled 10oz. New York steak with salt crusted baked potato and vegetables. Of course it was good, but the best part was probably the salt crusted baked potato. I’ve never had such a thing, but it was amazing. The cost of the various main courses were a little pricey, but nothing out of the ordinary for the type of restaurant that it is. However, the hotel and restaurant have a variety of packages that help to reduce the cost. If you are interested in seeing the menu, it is available online.

The restaurant has a kids menu, but it probably isn’t a place you would want to take small children to, although that would depend on how quiet and patient your kids are. The restaurant has a very sophisticated and elegant feel to it. It definitely has a water theme, with a couple of aquariums, some waterfall effects, and other water-related decorations. It was all very effective.

In the morning, our stay also included their excellent breakfast buffet. The Watermark Restaurant has a totally different feel to it during the day. At night, it is a very elegant and quiet restaurant. During the day, it is still a very nice restaurant, but it also has a very comfortable, almost homey feeling to it. It’s impressive that it can do both. The view during the day is clear and you can appreciate how high up you are.

There are an enormous number of options for the buffet. There’s fruit, bacon, sausages, various breads/toasts, muffins, yogurt, an omelet bar, and much more. Our kids were with us, and they fit in fine. They loved the view (my sons wanted to sit right at the window), and there was enough of a selection that they all had something that they liked.

Gary was our server for the buffet, and was able to get us a couple of things that weren’t out on the tables. He refreshed our drinks as needed, and was generally quite friendly and helpful. At the time of our visit, the buffet was approximately $20 for adults and $10 for children. It really is exceptional, and compared to what you can get at some local restaurants, it is worth it.

That’s about it from my Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview trip. I appreciate the opportunity that they gave me to stay and write about it. I hope to tour the new building soon.
