From Niagara This Week:
Niagara Falls, firmly entrenched as a world wonder, is being scrutinized by a Swiss committee in what appears to be a very subjective competition.
The City of Niagara Falls was notified earlier this week its world-famous waterfall may not qualify as a world wonder due to the fine print. A letter sent Monday by the New 7 Wonders Committee, based in Switzerland, notified the city Niagara Falls could be suspended from the New 7 Wonders competition unless it generates support from its neighbouring community of Niagara Falls, N.Y. The letter was also sent to local media outlets.
“At the moment the multi-national site Niagara Falls only has an Official Supporting Committee in Canada in place, and if nobody comes forth from (the U.S.) to support Niagara Falls together with you, it will ultimately be suspended from the campaign,” read the letter.
