From the Niagara Falls Review:
Greg Sorbara’s “road map” for Ontario’s tourism industry left some Niagara Falls tourism experts “fuzzy” about the course he charted.
Sorbara, a former Liberal finance minister and chairman of Ontario’s tourism competitiveness study, unveiled 20 recommendations he said position the province’s industry to double its revenue by 2020. Calling it “a road map for a decade,” he said tourism could be a $44-billion a year.
“Tourism has the potential to be a stronger and much more vibrant part of Ontario’s economy,” Sorbara said in Toronto at the Art Gallery of Ontario. About 100 industry representatives from across the province, including a few from Niagara, listened to Sorbara outline the conclusions of the study he was appointed a year ago to lead, “Discovering Ontario: A Report on the Future of Tourism.”
A recommendation to standardize destination marketing fees left Niagara Falls Tourism chairman Wayne Thomson wondering how and when it would be done.
“It really is fuzzy. I don’t think we have a clear picture of what they province feels,” said Wayne Thomson, chairman of the local agency that promotes Niagara Falls attractions.

Niagara Falls needs to regulate the DMF. Right now it’s a joke and not in line with other destinations like Toronto and Las Vegas. The money should be collected on hotel rooms only and then sent to Niagara Falls Tourism, and ONE agency works on promoting the destination.
Secondly fix the border situation. Allow everyone to cross with enhanced driver’s licence that is available to all Americans and Canadians and add more lanes for quicker access between two our two countries.
