From the Niagara Falls Review:
Staff from the Whirlpool Aero Car and the Niagara Parks Police dangled high above the racing Niagara River Wednesday to hone their rescue techniques.
At 76 metres above the whirlpool, the crew travelled two at a time in a metal rescue bucket to the cable car.
The small bucket, which is housed in a cave-like opening at Thompson Point, is designed to rescue stranded passengers if the aerial tramway becomes inoperable.
While it has never been used for a rescue since it was installed in 1984, staff and emergency personnel undergo regular training once a year.
