Two police officers injured quelling Falls fight

From the Welland Tribune (the Niagara Falls Review had a shorter article):

Two Niagara Regional Police officers suffered injuries while trying to quell a large fight involving roughly 24 combatants on the weekend.

The clash took place on Clifton Place at Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls on Sunday, Oct. 5 at approximately 12:15 a.m.

While working a special duty shift in the Clifton Hill area, two uniform police officers attempted to break up a large fight and maintain order. In attempting to gain control over the persons fighting, the officers became separated. One officer was pulled to the ground while attempting to control several males that were fighting with each other. While the officer was on the ground and distracted with his efforts to control these males an on-looker took the opportunity to assault the officer by kicking him in the head. The second officer attempted to intervene and was knocked to the ground and assaulted during the melee.
