The Canadian side will continue to keep growing because of the GTA population. That accounts for a huge chunk of the overall Canadian population, on top of outsiders from other countries. There's a lot of international advertising from Niagara Falls Ontario if because they have the biggest-name hotels in the business with Hilton, Sheridan, among others... on top of the Fallsview Casino which is very well respected with its quality hotel & casino atmosphere. You're bound to get a larger audience than USA.

...however, Americans are not visiting as often not because of the lack of attractions or advertising, but BECAUSE of the falling American dollar & rising Canadian dollar making exchange at par (thus, prices on the Canadian side are inflated on top of the double-tax)... and the worst being the confusion & requirements for crossing the border.
...the olden days, a license was good enough. Now, a passport is essentially required, and not many Americans have one (compared with Canadians)... the license thing was easy... now you get harassed at the border no matter what, sometimes fearing you'll either be denied, or just given the 3rd degree.

That's the ONLY reason the American side has seen a slight increase. There is less to do on the American side now than there ever has been... even with the advent of the indian casion, many other attractions have still since closed, with no signs of anything new opening. Yea, old-falls street recently re-opened, but so what? the old Wintergarden that's closed altogether now is still in the way of the walk-to-the-falls. The NF Aerospace museum is closed due to rental agreement & moving to Buffalo. The hot-air balloon is now closed because they can't afford to replace the damaged balloon. The waterpark is essentially demolished. There's no signs of new construction [yet] for the Casino expansion plans... The State Park still has a lot of political crap to go thru before it goes thru its 2005 proposed rennoviation.

It's got a huge hole to dig itself out... it's not that the Canadian side has less to do than before... it's that the Canadian side is not as economically & physically viable as it used to be... so they either go somewhere else, or stop by the American side instead and do whatever they got to do.

Why is Canada growing faster than the US at the falls? US visitorship going down over passport fears? At least the US is implementing lower cost alternatives like a wallet-sized card, and enhanced driver license. I was there 2 years ago with my brother, mom, and her man friend of 14 years, my father passed Mar. 8 1986. How many new hotels have been built since then? I didn't even ride the Tower Ride on Clifton Hill, not knowing it was it's last season. Me and my younger brother hit most of the haunted houses. I'm 34 now, and my brother 29. We're from Allentown, PA about 316 miles from the falls.
