I see Maid of the Mist won an award too. Do you know when it will be open for the season? I’m visiting Niagara Falls next weekend and really wanted to go on the Maid of the Mist.

I heard that they were shooting for the May 4 weekend, but if you look at this Falls cam, you can see the Maids still on land and all the ice still in the river.

Congratulations Zappitellis! I’ve stayed at the Sheraton before and know that it is well deserved. And as for Zappis….

Zappi’s had been a huge part of my family’s memories of the falls and were saddened when it closed in the 80’s. The pizza was the best we’d ever had - and the restaurant had a nice local feel and was as much a part of our family trips as the falls themselves. In 2000 I was feeling nostalgic and I did a search for Zappi’s and found an article about Albert Zappitelli mentioning the resaurant.

On a fluke I found his email and wrote about my family’s love of Zappi’s and how much we missed it. He replied that I made his day. Not long after that, Zappi’s made a comeback and Albert said I was part of the “spark” that made it happen. And now they’ve won an award!!

See - the words we put out there can make a difference!!! Now if we could just work on Maple Leaf Village….
