This isn't about the barrel picture, but along those lines...

I remember have a poster made somewhere inside Maple Leaf Village that said I was the Wimbledon champ. My girlfriend (now my wife) saw my poster and Was quite impressed! She was a little embarrassed when she found out what Wimbledon was and that the poster was fake. She still laughs about it to this day.

I remember that place & walking by it quite often.
Probably didn't get enough business... it's no real surprise since these places are fighting for their lives with some tough competition.

Doesn't essentially one owner own most of the North side of Clifton Hill (up to the Ripley building)...
...while HoCo owns most of the South-side of the street?

If that's the case, I'm sure they'll have no problem finding a replacement.

Perhaps I am wrong, but when I was a little kid it seemed to me that almost anywhere you went, they had these "over the falls in barrel" picture stands. I very well could be wrong though, because other than this one the only other one I can think of is Skylon. But for whatever reason it seems to me in my memory that they were everywhere.
