The prices between September and May are usually lower than most major cities in Canada. If you check out the data during the summer, Niagara does get quite expensive, usually only behind Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

That's a great link Dan. It really destroys the theory that Niagara Falls is expensive to stay in. It looks to be about the middle of the pack.

http://www.hotelnewsresource.com/pdf/Canadian_week_ending_October_21_06.PDF

If anyone likes to watch the industry trends for the area the above link provides info on weekly OCC%, ADR, and RevPAR. So far this autumn, it looks as if business has been up which hopefully will translate into greater employer confidence and we will see more projects start up.

Dan, it starts at 5:15pm. You are right, it is no longer a Disney show, but still very much kid oriented. You can check out the whole festival here: http://wfol.ca/

Thanks Rick. Is the family entertainment still the Disney show or did they get rid of that a few years back? And do you know what time the entertainment starts? Sorry for all the questions.

Just the opening ceremonies with the usual familty type entertainment at the outdoor stage in the park, followed by fireworks. And Regis Philbin at the Fallsview casino.

Does anyone know if anything special, like a concert, will be going on this Saturday night for the festival?

I have to say that I love these posts. I love hearing and seeing what's going on in my "other hometown". That is honestly how I feel about Niagara. I am so glad I found this website.

I recently spent a weekend on the American side for the first time in 29 years (I've been coming to the Falls at least once every year since I was 8 - I think I've only missed one or two Festival of Lights). I don't know why Americans haven't thought of a good way to use their assets, but there's really nothing to compare to the Canadian side.

My husband and mother-in-law wanted to try out the Seneca casino, and while I have to rate their slots a little better - the service and atmosphere wasn't even close to the Fallsview. Players expect certain standards and they really didn't live up to expectations.

Graham, keep up the good work. I love what you do and if you ever need the perspective of a tourist who feels like a local, let me know!

Thanks again!
