After 32 years behind the helm of Maid of the Mist steamboats, Richard Schuyler is sailing into the sunset.
Schuyler, who has steered a boat through the mist of the Falls since 1974 is retiring.
The Niagara Falls native, and captain, departed on his farewell trip on Tuesday October 24 at 4:37- the last boat to head towards the Falls for the 2006 season.
For 32 years, Schuyler would start his day at the Maid of the Mist at 9 a.m. putting in an 11-and-a-half-hour shift, running 22 trips to the Falls during the peak times of summer.
