From Niagara This Week:
Niagara Falls took on a pink hue Saturday night to illuminate the importance for women to detect breast cancer in its early stages.
Country-singing sensation LeAnn Rimes stood at a pink podium at the Edgewater Tap and Grill and flipped the switch turning the water rushing over the city’s world famous cataract pink as part of the seventh annual Estée Lauder Companies’ Global Landmarks Illumination. For the sixth time, Niagara Falls joined in with other world-renowned landmarks for the event, including the Empire State Building in New York City, the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia and the Tokyo Tower in Japan.
“When you talk about illuminating a beautiful landmark like Niagara Falls, that’s what we want to do all over the world through raising awareness with every person about breast cancer and the importance of early detection,” said Mariellen O’Hara, vice president of Estée Lauder Canada.
