Regular contributor Lisa from Rochester emailed me with some observations from her trip to Niagara Falls last weekend:
Captain Murphy’s on Lundy’s Lane is now Closed
Teddytown you wrote about on Clifton Hill – Store is now Empty (Closed)
Last Resort – I believe was the restaurant you spoke that had a fire on Victoria Avenue is now closed.
Parking – Travelodge – Watch yourself – When we went down Clifton Hill Parking was $10.00, later on when we were coming back to our hotel at Quality Inn parking was back to $15.00. While the Comfort Inn had several parking spots for a set rate of $7.00. Great Gorge Parking was $18.00 and the Greenhouse was $3 per hour or $12.00 total.

wow!!..can’t believe teddy town is closed already..we dropped over $125 in there about 3 weeks ago..in fact..they had some workers tryiing to put together some kind of *cage* for the giant bear because of vandelism from patrons late at night from the mardi gras nightclub…they had even just put up a new sign..and as i said before..we always stay at the hilltop..always walking past there and there were always people in there..
It seems like that location is cursed because, whatever gets put in there, it always goes out of business.
Completely off topic, but does anyone know if the fallsview tower ride is going to be removed?
do you mean the original 99 cent ride?..that would be a shame…altho i don’t like heights at all..it is alot lower than the skywheel for anyone who doesn’t wanna go that high…i’m sure there’s alot of people like that.. that would rather do the tower…
Yeah, thats the one. When I came up in June some of the people I talked to on the hill said it would be taken down after this season, because of skywheel.
The Falls Tower Ride is I believe $3.99. When I was there two weeks ago the ride seemed very run down and has not been updated. The had part of the ride closed because it was leaking on the seat. Matter of fact me and my niece still got wet from the ride. They had towels down but, that did not solve the problem. But, there was always alot of people in line for the ride so the interest is still there. At $9.99 for the skywheel and $3.99 for the Falls Tower maybe they will keep the ride for a more reasonable expence for families that can’t afford the wheel. Personally we took advantage and got the package deal for $24.99 for all five attractions and we did it twice.
oh dear i hope the falls tower ride does not get removed.
we took off to the falls for the night last night (tuesday)..we were talking to a reliable source that told us teddy town moved out during the night almost 2 weeks ago..apparently the guy who owns teddy town (a miami based company) wasn’t happy with the lease in the first place..so decided to take off..we also found out that the inn by the falls off victoria and adjacent to the casino niagara near the top of bender hill..was torn down last week and an 8 story hotel is going up…last night from the balcony..i was people watching on the hill and it was amazing how many people were still wandering around at 130am this morning…we went to boston pizza at 915pm last night for dinner and even the patio was packed even tho it was kinda cool…
